Other Ways To Give
Meet the needs of victims and children
throughout the year.
The spring holidays can be a great time to do something special for the parents and kids in shelter. You can host a drive for survivors and theme it around Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter or Mother’s Day. Need ideas? Check out this page for our top needs.
Questions? Reach out to development@hubbardhouse.org.
Around 120 survivors and their children reside in our emergency shelter at any given time. Your help is critical to ensure we’re prepared for major weather events. To help stock our hurricane supply closet, consider donations of the following items:
For safety reasons, an appointment is required to drop off donations. To schedule your drop-off time, please contact development@hubbardhouse.org or call 904-354-0076, ext. 281.
Summer is upon us and will be over before you know it. School supplies and gift cards for uniforms are ways you can help our families prepare for the new school year. Below are examples of school supplies that are needed by age.
Your donations go directly to kids living in shelter and in our outreach programs. When you’re ready to schedule your appointment to drop off school supplies, please email development@hubbardhouse.org. If possible, please try and drop off school supplies a week before school starts so families and staff can determine needs.
A sweet treat for the children at Hubbard House!
Many children look forward to the costumes and candy on Halloween, but it isn’t safe for our youngest residents to trick-or-treat outside of shelter. So, we bring Halloween and trick-or-treating to them! Through generous donations of candy and costumes from people like you, the children in shelter stop by staff offices in their princess and superhero costumes and celebrate Halloween safely with us.
You can help the children at Hubbard House celebrate Halloween safely. Consider donating non-violent costumes and candy. Not sure what size costume to get? We often have younger kids in shelter so we usually need more in those sizes.
Drop-offs can be scheduled a few days before Halloween by emailing development@hubbardhouse.org.
Hubbard House accepts special holiday donations from the community for survivors and children served in shelter or through Hubbard House’s outreach programs. If, in addition to your regular end-of-year gift, you would like to make the holidays special for a Hubbard House survivor-led family, the options are many! Below are ways to help.
You can also help support us through food, toiletry, linens and other basic needs drives. We’re currently in most need of food for the shelter. Learn more here.
This Thanksgiving, help stock the shelves at Hubbard House for survivors and children living in shelter.
What’s needed most? Meals and comfort food are favorites — like pasta, pasta sauce, peanut butter, cereal, cookies, chips, macaroni & cheese, canned fruits and veggies. We also need the basics like salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, salad dressing, spices, juice boxes, and drinks. If it’s something you like, survivors will probably like it too.
We’re accepting Thanksgiving food drive items by appointment November 19, 20 and 21 at the Hubbard House Outreach Center, located at 6629 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32216.
Please contact development@hubbardhouse.org in advance to schedule your drop-off appointment. For safety reasons, an appointment is required.
Due to limited refrigeration space, please no perishable food items.
Adopt and shop for one survivor-led family. Then deliver unwrapped gifts (purchased from their wish lists) to make your adopted family’s holiday happier.
Each year, Hubbard House heroes adopt families in our Outreach programs, and our goal this year is bigger than ever: 55 families! Each adopted family provides a wish list, which is emailed to donors in early November.
The estimated cost is $100-$125 per person in the family, so this may be a good option for a corporation, club or group. We ask that you donate new and unwrapped gifts and attempt to purchase all of the items on the list. Keep in mind these are likely to be the only presents a family will receive this year.
(Note: if this option is cost prohibitive, but you’d still like to support Hubbard House families, please see our Toy and Mommy Store options for shelter residents.)
Donations of wrapping paper, tape and bows are appreciated.
Donations can be dropped off by appointment at the Hubbard House Outreach Center located at 6629 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32216. Donations will be accepted December 5, 6, and 9. For safety reasons, an appointment is required for drop-off.
To sign up for the program and schedule your delivery, or you have questions, please contact volunteer@hubbardhouse.org.
Bring joy to an in-shelter child or parent!
Shh! It’s a secret to our in-shelter residents but our elves create two magical stores at the holidays – one for kids and one for parents. You and other members of our community are key to creating these magical wonderlands. Consider giving new toys or new gifts for adults to stock our stores.
At the Survivor Store, in-shelter children shop for free for special gifts for their in-shelter parent. Some gift ideas include:
Think about what items you’d like to receive for the holidays and consider donating them.
In the Toy Store, in-shelter parents shop for their children for free. Thanks to the generosity of our community, parents in shelter have the opportunity to give presents to their children. These may be the only gifts a child receives and are guaranteed to bring joy.
Please, no toy guns, knives or other violent toys for any age.
For safety reasons, an appointment is required to drop off donations. To schedule your drop-off time, please contact development@hubbardhouse.org or call 904-354-0076, ext. 281.
Donations will be accepted by appointment December 12, 13 and 16 at the Hubbard House Outreach Center, 6629 Beach Boulevard, 32216.
The last date we are able to accept toy and gift donations is December 16th. We ask this so that our families can plan for Christmas.
Festive papers, suitable for all ages, accepted and appreciated! In-shelter moms and kids wrap their own gifts to keep holiday traditions strong. (Little ones get plenty of help.)
For safety reasons, an appointment is required to drop off donations. To schedule your drop-off time, please contact development@hubbardhouse.org or call 904-354-0076, ext. 281.
