MORE THAN 1,000 PEOPLE JOIN TOGETHER TO STRIDE TO SAVE LIVES!

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (4/17/23) – At Hubbard House’s 14th annual Stand Up & Stride Domestic Violence Awareness Walk, presented by Pajcic & Pajcic, more than 1,000 people came together with a clear message: We support survivors.

“It is so important for survivors of domestic violence to know they are not alone. Hubbard House is here for you. And events like this show our community is here for you too,” says Hubbard House Chief Development & Administration Officer Kristi Brandon.

The Walk was held on April 15th at Riverfront Plaza, with a one-mile route in Downtown and a full route along the Main Street Bridge and Southbank Riverwalk. Longstanding favorites of the event, like free games and prizes in the Kid Zone, were joined by new features, including the Pet Zone.

While this event was free to attend for the community, money raised directly supports local survivors of domestic violence and their families.

“Leaving an abusive relationship is never easy, but Hubbard House gives survivors that chance. It is not just a shelter. Hubbard House literally saves lives.,” says Hubbard House Board President Janeen Mira, who represented the Walk’s presenting sponsor, Pajcic & Pajcic.

The total amount of funds raised is still being counted, however Hubbard House exceeded its $100,000 fundraising goal for the event. Brandon says she is grateful for the continued support this community provides.

“Whether you donate your money, your time, or your energy and passion- your support of survivors matters. You save lives!” Brandon says.

Local dignitaries including Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters and Clerk of Courts Jody Phillips joined the event, representing important partners to the work Hubbard House does day in and day out. Hubbard House staff and volunteers spoke with community members through the event to raise awareness about Hubbard House’s free, confidential resources, including emergency shelter, counseling, job coaching, and more.
