Domestic violence is a community-wide issue that needs a community-wide solution. As parents, influencers, mentors, and peers, men have an important and valued role in violence prevention. Together, we will see Hubbard House’s vision: “Every Relationship Violence-Free.”

Hubbard House supports and uplifts men in these roles through opportunities to educate and engage with this mission. Men, we are here to support you as you make a positive impact!

Not My City Program

The “Not My City” program is a partnership between Hubbard House, the City of Jacksonville’s Kid’s Hope Alliance, and Northeast Florida Healthy Start Coalition’s Fatherhood P.R.I.D.E. It’s an educational program equips men and boys with tools to support violence prevention in their everyday lives.

From exploring how to uplift and connect with peers to supporting healthy boundaries in our daughters to instilling our sons with empathy and respect- Hubbard House works to educate men and boys on practical options for positive action.

We have four different tracks that leverage the relationships men and boys have and how those are parts of violence prevention:

Not My City engages men as peers to men by exploring how men can be positive friends, family, and colleagues. This track includes discussions on the language men use, coping with stress, navigating peer conversations, and much more.

Not My Son helps men understand the experience of our sons through the lens of violence prevention. This track instills tools for supporting positive emotional expression and navigating conversations about boundaries and consent.

Not My Daughter educates men who are fathers of daughters on opportunities to protect against violence in healthy ways. This track supports self-esteem building and how to discuss challenging topics like how women are portrayed in media.

Not My Friend uplifts that violence prevention starts at a young age. This track develops skills in middle and high school boys for how to safely challenge the negative statements of peers and what it means to support violence prevention.

Hosting Not My City sessions is a meaningful way to engage your
fraternity, mentoring organization, dad group, or college club.
