Celebrate decades of life-saving, life-changing support for survivors.
On November 1, 1976, we opened Florida’s first dedicated domestic violence shelter. We were a small house on Hubbard Street in Jacksonville’s Springfield neighborhood, but we had a big mission: safety for those who were not safe in their own homes.
Over the past 50 years, Hubbard House has grown and evolved into full-service domestic violence center serving nearly five thousand survivors and children across our community each year, in and beyond shelter.
October 21, 2026 | 7:30 a.m.
Hundreds of civic and community leaders come together at this powerful event where we remember those our community has lost to domestic violence, create awareness of Hubbard House’s resources, and become inspired by the stories of now-safe survivors.
February 27, 2027 | 6 p.m.
This work is about not only safety, but hope. Join us at Anchored in Hope, our 50th Anniversary Gala to celebrate the safety and hope you have brought to our community!
This will be an elegant evening with great food, dancing, and inspiration along the beautiful St. Johns River.

This fun, family-friendly event features music, dancing, and over 1,500 people coming together for a beautiful morning. Together, we raise awareness about domestic violence and celebrate the strength of survivors. *Date conditional pending final permit approval.

We are so excited to unveil a new logo that not only represents who we are now, but celebrates our city- the first in Florida’s history to host a dedicated domestic violence shelter.
Beginning late October, we will embark on a year-long social media campaign, #SinceHubbardStreet. This campaign highlights where we started, our ground-breaking programs that have defined the last 50 years, our ongoing work to support the safety of thousands of local survivors each year, and how we will work toward a safer future.

Emergency shelter for survivors most at-risk will always be our core mission, but thousands of survivors and children also benefit each year from Hubbard House’s services outside of shelter.
We offer counseling, children’s therapy, court advocacy, housing assistance, a 24-hour crisis hotline, safe custody exchange, support within the child welfare system, professional training, youth education, and so much more.

The Hubbard House Foundation oversees an endowment that is strategically invested and managed by a board of business experts and civic leaders. Each year, the Foundation awards a grant to Hubbard House, providing critical funding toward Hubbard House’s life-saving, life-changing services.
Because of the Hubbard House Foundation, Hubbard House is able to help survivors now and forever.
