EVERY RELATIONSHIP VIOLENCE-FREE

The Jake Godbold Memorial Fund

Twenty-five years ago, former Mayor Jake Godbold came to Hubbard House after his sister-in-law Barbara Ann Campbell was murdered in her driveway by her abuser.

So other lives would not be meaninglessly lost to domestic violence and other families would not suffer painful loss as his had, Jake graciously suggested that Hubbard House use Barbara's name and story to raise awareness of the problem and raise funds to provide a way out for survivors and their children.

To this day, Hubbard House annually hosts the Barbara Ann Campbell Memorial Breakfast. It has been an unmatched tool for raising awareness of domestic violence in our community, and raising funds for the live-saving and life-changing shelter and services Hubbard House provides.

Jake leaves behind a tremendous legacy not only for his service to Jacksonville but also within the domestic violence movement. It is no exaggeration to say that domestic violence awareness increased because of Jake, and thousands upon thousands of lives have been saved and changed as a direct result of his involvement.

At the request of Team Jake, The Jake Godbold Memorial Fund was created to honor Jake's commitment to ending violence in our homes and will be utilized to fund Hubbard House's emergency shelter and services.
