Have The Guts To Do The Right Thing

Men Against Violence Against Women (MAVAW) began in 2000 as a small group of individuals, both male and female, whose mission was to affect social change in the community by informing men of the prevalence of violence against women. The concept was to develop creative and targeted marketing, education, and communication tools to deliver the message that violence against women is indeed a man's issue as well as a woman’s issue. Since that time, MAVAW has become an official auxiliary organization of Hubbard House and has made presentations to more than 7,500 individuals, community leaders, military, and children.

Past MAVAW events have included an annual Softball Tournament and Homerun Derby and the Stop Violence Against Women "STOP Sign" campaigns throughout the city. Additionally, MAVAW hosts a bi-annual youth arts competition called Stages For Change that challenges middle and high school students to create and perform theatre and art presentations focused on the issue of relationship violence.
